Some of What the Bible says about: Husbands, Wives and Marriage

A constant dripping on a rainy day and a cranky woman are much alike! You can no more stop her complaints than you can stop the wind or hold onto anything with oil-slick hands. Proverbs 27: 15-16 It is better to live in the corner of an attic than with a crabby woman in a lovely home. Proverbs 21: 9 Better to live in the desert than with a quarrelsome, complaining woman. Proverbs 21: 19 It is better to live in a corner of an attic than in a beautiful home with a cranky and quarrelsome woman. Proverbs 25:24 It is better to eat soup with someone you love than steak with someone you hate. Proverbs 15: 17 A beautiful woman lacking discretion and modesty is like a fine gold ring in a pig’s snout. Proverbs 11:22 Charm can be deceptive and beauty doesn’t last, but a woman who fears and reverences God shall be greatly praised. Proverbs 31:30 A father can give his son homes and riches, but only the Lord can give them understanding wives. Proverbs 19:14 A worthy wife is her husband’s joy and crown; the other kind corrodes his strength and tears down everything he does. Proverbs 12:4 The man who finds a wife finds a good thing; she is a blessing to him from the Lord. Proverbs 18:22 The Lord’s blessing is our greatest wealth. All our work adds nothing to it! Proverbs 10: 22 "You wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, for that is what the Lord had planned for you. And you husbands must be loving and kind to your wives and not bitter against them or harsh. You children must always obey your fathers and mothers, for that pleases the Lord. Father’s don’t scold your children so much that they become discouraged and quit trying." Colossians 3: 18-21 A Wife Of Noble Character Proverbs 31: 10-31 NLT "Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is worth more than precious rubies. He husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life. She will not hinder him but help him all her life. She finds wool and flax and busily spins it. She is like a merchant's ship; she brings her food from afar. She gets up before dawn a to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the day's work for the servant girls. She goes out to inspect a field and buys it; with her earnings she plants a vineyard. She is energetic and strong, a hard worker. She watches for bargains; her lights burn late into the night. Her hands are busy spinning thread, her fingers twisting fiber. She extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy. She has no fear of winter for her household because all of them have warm clothes. She quilts her own bedspreads. She dresses like royalty in gowns of the finest cloth. Her husband is well known, for he sits in the council meeting with the other civic leaders. She makes belted linen garments and sashes to sell to the merchants. She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs with no fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule when she gives instructions. She carefully watches all that goes on in her household and does not have to bear the consequences of her laziness. Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her. There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all! Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise."
