Halls Tornado Page


On January 17, 1999, a tornado bounced through Halls, Tennessee. Most severely damaged were Pig-N-Out restaurant and Halls First United Methodist Church. Click on a picture preview to get the big picture.


Notice in the picture at the left, you can actually see trees on the other side through the church. Also, the chandeliers and pews remain undamaged within. Services had been canceled for that Sunday night's service on the account of weather.
Other major damage occurred outside of Halls at a trailer park just off Highway 51. Some homes suffered damage in the immediate area. Trees were downed and power outages were rampant.
There were no storm-related deaths in Lauderdale County. There were several injurys, most not critical. Other counties like Madison, suffered many casualties and mass property damage.
